Pasadena weekend: What to do May 9-11

Bike Week Pasadena is the big thing this weekend.

Bike Week Pasadena, which runs May 11 thru 17, kicks off on Sunday with basic bicycle safety and maintenance presentations on Fair Oaks Ave. The City of Pasadena and Cyclists Inciting Change Thru Live Exchange (CICLE) have planned events for each day, including a cycling tour of Pasadena eateries on Monday, a Women on Bikes Night on Wednesday and Bike to Work Day on Thursday.

Nature Tails. On Saturday morning, the Eaton Canyon Nature Center hosts its weekly Nature Tails story hour for children age 3-5. Expect stories, puppet shows and nature walks.

Walking tour. Also on Saturday morning, Pasadena Heritage presents Busch Gardens Remembered, an illustrated lecture by researcher Michael Logan. A major tourist attraction from 1905 to 1938, the gardens at the former winter home of Anheiser-Busch co-founder Adolphus Busch on Orange Grove Boulevard included rare and exotic plants and trees as well as fanciful water elements. Many of these features survived but are now hidden on private property. In his presentation, Logan matches historic images to their same exact locations today.

In honor of World Fair Trade Day on Saturday, Fair Trade LA is hosting a boutique day at James Brown Coffee Roasters.
