With a big Thank you! to Monica Hubbard (Wired Women) for compiling and forwarding the list, here are the remaining options for checking out the candidates:

February 25, 6:30-8:30 p.m

* This candidate forum is specifically for youth by youth. It will be an interactive format designed to engage those who are still too young to vote but have a major stake in our community. Groups of youth participants will rotate among candidate circles to get to know them, followed by 15 minute popcorn style questions composed by youth, and finally an opportunity for them to "vote" for their candidate.

Mayoral race: Candidates weigh in on traffic and transportation

What do the mayoral candidates think is the most urgent transportation need in Pasadena? When did they last ride a bike or walk more than two blocks? Seeking answers to these and a couple of other sustainability related questions, the Pasadena Complete Streets Coalition (CSC) reached out to the candidates with a survey.

The responses, which the CSC has posted on its website, include the repair of sidewalks and the synchronizing of lights on thoroughfares (Jacque Robinson) as well as traffic calming and safer bicycle and pedestrian travel (Terry Tornek) as the most urgent transportation need. Regarding his preferred method of transportation, Jason Hardin said that he enjoys walking as a cardio workout and because it gives him the chance to better engage with the community. "It allows me to be more accessible to those I may not have the opportunity to cross paths with otherwise," he explained, "thus allowing me to strengthen my ties to the neighborhood and help more people."

Candidates forum for mayoral race

Promising a unique format and no canned speeches, the Downtown Pasadena Neighborhood Association (DPNA) will host a Mayoral Candidates Forum. The event, which is scheduled for Wednesday evening, will include "activity stations" on topics such as Parklets and Placemaking, Connecting Pasadena, Complete Streets and Land Use Advocacy.

The six candidates for the race will be invited to visit the booths, to familiarize themselves with each exhibit's goals, and to then use that information as basis for their candidate statements and for the Q&A segment afterward. For their statements, the candidates will be asked to reflect on what they learned. Specifically, the DPNA will invite them to address questions like: "How do you respond to our Vision of Pasadena’s Future?" "Tell us who you talked with and what you learned?"

Elections for the position of Mayor of Pasadena — it will be the first such event in 16 years — will take place on March 10. Six candidates have qualified for the race. They include City Council members Terry Tornek of District 7 and Jacque Robinson of District 1.
